GENERAL DESCRIPTION

CIMA - Centro di Ricerca Interuniversitario in Monitoraggio Ambientale (Interuniversity Research Center of Environmental Monitoring) - is a Public Institution of Research and Technology Cooperation. Though first created by the University of Genoa in March 1996, it was established in July 2000 by the University of Genoa and the University of Basilicata. CIMA's mission is to advance science and engineering in fields related to environment and to supply transfer of technology and training through the following:

• Basic and applied research in environment related areas

• Publishing research results

• Designing and implementing prototype projects in view of transfer of technology and cooperation

• Organizing brief courses, workshops and summer schools on environmental issues

• Research training for doctorate and graduate students

• Supporting Doctoral and post-Doctoral research positions in environmental sciences and engineering

• Collaborative research and exchange programs with other institutions of environmental research

• Hosting visiting scientists and technical staff.

Thanks to its research activities, the University of Genoa has recognized CIMA as an institution of high productivity, providing more than half of the global productivity rate of all the Research Centers of the University of Genoa.

CIMA's scientific expertise, Research and Development of Advanced Technology in Environmental Monitoring, Territory Planning and Civil Protection, Decontamination of Industrial Sites and Water Quality Monitoring are all accurately documented by the projects carried out at the Center.

Regione Piemonte INTERREG III B Medocc Progetto AMPHORE (Piedmont Region - ITERREG III B Medocc, AMPHORE Project) - Application of methodologies of hydro-meteorological forecast for environmental risk evaluation.

FISR - Fuel and Melted-Carbonate Cell Plants. Development and setup of cell, stack and system components towards the enhancement of the performances of MCFC plants in view of their prospective commercialization.
